What's on - July 2012
The Sacconi Quartet look forward to a busy and exciting month this July. They will be travelling to Deal, Wallingford, Norfolk, Buxton and Aberystwyth and will be performing with fantastic musicians such as David Campbell, Matthew Sharp, Viv McClean, Tom Poster, and Andrew Marriner. They will be performing the world premiere of a clarinet quintet by Roger Steptoe, as well as what is widely considered to be the UK premiere of a quartet movement by Sibelius.

Viv McClean and the Sacconi Quartet, with a lunch interval in between, provide two feasts of music by the Schumanns and Brahms, a newly commissioned script illuminates and binds the music perfectly. The programme includes Schumann's and Brahms' mighty Piano Quintets performed, romances by Clara and intimate and devotional solo piano music by all three. Andrew Marriner joins the Sacconi Quartet for the second of two concerts at the Buxton Festival. The programme contains the suspected UK premiere of a short piece for string quartet by Sibelius as well as works by Ireland and Brahms. As regular visitors to Musicfest Aberystwyth, the Sacconis are delighted to be performing in two concerts at the Festival this year. The first concert, with David Campbell, includes the world premiere of a new quintet by Roger Steptoe. Also in the programme are works by Borodin, Barber and Dvorak.
